362 - Seagulls in the surf at Small Hope Beach - Shanklin

When I got home from first sketching this I realised I had a very large stretch in the foreground with not a lot in it as a result it ended up in my folder unfinished for a few years.  Eventually I went back on location and was really pleased to see the surfing gulls in the foreground, they had so much character and interest and solved my issue of what to put there.  The sea was quite a strange colour and it took a lot of courage to paint it as it was.
